Local sourcing in developing countries: The role of foreign direct investments and global value chains
This paper, co-authored with Vito Amendolagine, Andrea Presbitero and Marco Sanfilippo and published in World Development, investigates whether and how participation and positioning in the global value chains (GVCs) of host countries is associated to local sourcing by foreign investors in 19 Sub-Saharan African countries and Vietnam. With Vito Amendolagine, Andrea Presbitero and Adnan Seric I published an IMF Working Paper on whether and how the participation and position in global value chains of host countries is associated with local sourcing by foreign investors in 19 Sub-Saharan African countries and Vietnam.

My paper co-authored with Vito Amendolagine, Andrea Presbitero and Marco Sanfilippo was awarded the prize for the best paper in the track International Business and Economic Geography at EIBA in Milano. It was also presented last year in June at the Sase Conference in Lyon, in October at Globelics in Athens and SIE in Cosenza, in December at the Global Production Networks in Singapore, in February at the Geoinno2018 in Barcelona and in March at Centro Rossi Doria in Roma.
